AMBULATORY ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY 24-48 H

Ohje muilla kielillä: Suomi, Ruotsi

We will carry out ambulatory electrocardiography (ECG) during the examination. Your physician decides whether you will be monitored for one or two days (24 h or 48 h). During the examination, your ECG is recorded on a small mobile device. The ECG recording is used to analyse your heart rate during different activities, possible rhythm disturbances and the connection of the symptoms detected to changes in the ECG.

It takes approximately 30 minutes to install the recording device at the laboratory. Its removal takes around 15 minutes. The removal appointment will be scheduled during the installation appointment.

Preparing for the examination

Wear a loose top that preferably opens on the front to the examination.

Examination process

The nurse will attach ECG electrodes to your chest. The electrodes are connected to a mobile recorder at your waist with cables.

During the examination, you can move freely and carry on with your day as usual. Make sure the electrodes on your chest and the mobile recorder do not get wet. Do not take showers or bath in the sauna during the examination.

You are required to keep a diary of your daily activities for the duration of the examination. The diary entries help us interpret the ECG recording. Record your activities and possible symptoms closely during the 24/48 hours.

Medication

You can continue to take your regular medication as usual, unless your attending physician has instructed otherwise. When you come to your examination appointment, take your prescriptions or a list of medication you are using with you.

Exceptions to the medication instructions for the duration of the examination (physician's orders):
